Actually this will be an almost Wordless Wednesday post. J turned one in November and I finally finished the pictures. I started off wanting a Wild West theme but that kinda changed into a random 1st birthday theme.

* Took Baby J to get his hair cut and then to the doctor today. Everything is good with him, growing just fine. He is a little cranky from his shots though.

* I have about 4,000 books I want to read. I wish I had more time to do so.

* We saw The Rum Diary last night. Overall it was a good movie but really slow in some parts. I think it helped that Johnny Depp was the main character.

* Started season 6 of House. I love that show. Sad that it is ending but since I am only on season 6 I have a bit to go before I watch it all.

* I am having an Army Wives party this weekend. I am working with Lifetime and get to preview the season premiere. I am super excited about that!

* I am all caught up with my photos. Nothing to edit. That never ever happens and I am sure it won’t last long.

How has your day been?

I have had a few people tell me they are having problems with my blog in Google Reader. It just wasn’t updating for them and I couldn’t figure out why. I have it in my reader and it seemed to be updating normally.

I finally figured out what the problem is. If you have subscribed to my blog by just entering http://soldierswifecrazylife.com then you are not getting an updated feed. I am not sure why this is and I need to figure out how to fix it.

Until then if you subscribe to my blog using this feed http://feeds.feedburner.com/SoldiersWifeCrazyLife you should be okay.

If anyone knows why using just my website doesn’t really work right, please let me know. I am determined to figure it out!

Day 43/365- After church we went to our old church for a Spaghetti lunch.  The youth were hosting it to raise money for Compassion International.  They needed about $500 and got $1000.  That was awesome to hear!  It was neat to see some friends I hadn’t seen for a while too.

Day 44/365- Of course we waited until the last minute.  My 5 year old writing out his Valentine’s.  I was glad to find Lego Star Wars ones too.

Day 45/365-We went to an appointment with a doctor about Drew and Baby J had fun in the waiting room.  He is getting so big!

Day 46/365 Yay for chocolate  Went to Wal-mart and found some for 50% off.

Day 47/365 Just a phone shot today.  My baby is getting so big.  15 months now!

Day 48/365- I love iced coffee.  Yum!  Even better in an iced mug.  There was an A&W near where I went to college.

Day 49/365- Legos!  My son is so creative with them.  She made letters out of Legos that spelled “Star Wars” and then added a one at the end for one of his favorite movies.  Later he added a VI at the end for episode 6.

Three little boys…this was God’s plan for us.  When you first get married you think about the future family you hope to have.  I don’t think I ever pictured three little boys.  I thought I would have at least one little girl.  But having all boys really is just perfect for me…

Our house might be short on the pink stuff, my childhood dresses will stay in storage for many more years, maybe a granddaughter will wear them someday.  No one will want to play with my Barbie collection.  I will have Legos, cars and trains coming out of my ears.  No one in our house will sell Girl Scout cookies.  No Mother/Daughter teas in my future, just a lot of Father/Son moments that I will cherish.   I will never get to play the role of Mother of the Bride, I might not even be allowed to be in the room to watch a future grandchild be born but you never know.

I have the best relationship with my own mom.  I know I can have wonderful relationships with my sons but I know they will be different than what a mother/daughter bond would be.  This does make me a little sad but at the same time I can pray that I will have wonderful relationships with daughter-in-laws sometime in the future.  I don’t have to be heartbroken about it.

Life never ends up exactly how you think it will.  There are always surprises and being a mom of little boys is mine.  It is a happy surprise and one that I think I will enjoy even more than I already do as the years pass.

Wordless Wednesday: A trip to Nashville in December-I love to visit Bass Pro Shops to get our free picture with Santa

I read the Hunger Games trilogy last year and loved it.  I didn’t realize at the time that it was considered “dystopian fiction.”  Since then I have read 4 other books that could be called  ”dystopian fiction.”  I like to call it, “Books that take place in the future, in a world with different rules than our own, where a young person works through something and ends up fighting the government or leadership of that world”  There is usually a love story to go with.

The first book I read was Diverget by Veronica Roth.  From Goodreads, “In a future Chicago, 16-year-old Beatrice Prior must choose among five predetermined factions to define her identity for the rest of her life, a decision made more difficult when she discovers that she is an anomaly who does not fit into any one group, and that the society she lives in is not perfect after all.”

I loved the mix of action with relationships in this one.  I am excited because book #2 is coming out in May!

The next book I read was Open Minds by Susan Kaye Quinn.  From Goodreads, “Sixteen-year-old Kira Moore is a zero, someone who can’t read thoughts or be read by others. Zeros are outcasts who can’t be trusted, leaving her no chance with Raf, a regular mindreader and the best friend she secretly loves. When she accidentally controls Raf’s mind and nearly kills him, Kira tries to hide her frightening new ability from her family and an increasingly suspicious Raf. But lies tangle around her, and she’s dragged deep into a hidden world of mindjackers, where having to mind control everyone she loves is just the beginning of the deadly choices before her”

What I loved most about this one was how the author has so many great details about the world the book took place in.  I also really liked Kira and felt for her.  I am so curious what happens next as this book is suppose to be apart of a trilogy.

The 3rd book I read after the Hunger Games was Delirium by Lauren Oliver.  From Goodreads, “Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that one love -the deliria- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the governments demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy. But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.”

This one was so different from anything I had read before.  The story was so original.  I really liked the characters in this one too.  The second book in this series comes out in just a couple of weeks.

And I just finished the Uglies by Scott Westerfield.  From Goodreads, “Everybody gets to be supermodel gorgeous. What could be wrong with that? Tally is about to turn sixteen, and she can’t wait. Not for her license — for turning pretty. In Tally’s world, your sixteenth birthday brings an operation that turns you from a repellent ugly into a stunningly attractive pretty and catapults you into a high-tech paradise where your only job is to have a really great time. In just a few weeks Tally will be there.  But Tally’s new friend Shay isn’t sure she wants to be pretty. She’d rather risk life on the outside. When Shay runs away, Tally learns about a whole new side of the pretty world and it isn’t very pretty. The authorities offer Tally the worst choice she can imagine: find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at all. The choice Tally makes changes her world forever.”

I really enjoyed this one!  I don’t want to spoil anything but the book was different than I thought it would be.  You just have to read it for yourself. It is apart of a 4 book series and have book #2 waiting for me

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Although I am not a huge fan of Valentine’s Day for some reason. I am not sure why as I normally love holidays. We don’t really do a lot for Valentine’s Day. We don’t buy each other anything and rarely go out for dinner. And most years he is usually deployed or in the field or something like that. I think we just don’t feel like spending the money or something. The kid’s get into it a little bit though and that is fun. But really I could take it or leave it.

Today has been busy so far. I got to meet Life with the Lieutenant this morning! We met for coffee and got to know each other a little better. She is super sweet and has a little boy the same age as Baby J. They both have red hair too

After that I went to the PX. I hardly ever go there but I needed to go to a store and was already on post. I met Ben for lunch and then we went to an appointment for my five year old. It was the doctor that diagnosed his Asperger’s. He wanted to make sure everything was going okay as far as getting ABA therapy set up and working with the school district on getting him an IEP. So far we have started ABA and I love the lady that is working with him. She is super sweet and Drew really likes her. We are in the process of getting that IEP set up.  I am finally home and want to do something yummy for dinner but not sure what.
