Getting Through A Deployment

Getting Through Your Deployment

Getting Through A Deployment I have gotten a few emails recently about how to get through a deployment.  So I figured I would do a blog post about it. When I finally know when my husband is going to deploy, I start making some plans on how to deal with what is going to happen and get through it.  I make lists.  Lists of things I can do for fun.  Lists of things I want to accomplish.  Lists of places I want to go. The lists never seem to end but they are helpful in keeping focused on getting through a …

When the worst happens :(

I was heartbroken to hear about a fellow military wife blogger who lost her husband in Afghanistan 🙁 http://alittlepinkinaworldofcamo.blogspot.com/2010/03/i-will-always-be-marine-wife.html There are no words we can say to comfort her.  There is nothing we can do it take away the pain.  It is our biggest fear as a military wife 🙁  We feel pain deeply for the families who have lost someone because it is something we all have to think about. In 2007 my husband got extended in Iraq.  From 9 months to 12 months to 15 months.  THAT was hard.  But what made it worse was how many men …

One Little German Village, Erbendorf

I wanted to post about where we use to live.  Now that we don’t live there anymore I feel more comfortable talking about it.We use to live in Erbendorf which is about 25 minutes from the Grafenwoehr Army post in Bavaria. We use to live in Erbendorf which is about 25 minutes from the Grafenwoehr Army post in Bavaria. The village is cute.  It’s small.  Really small.  The people are friendly.  Lots of cute places to walk. We lived living off post in Germany outside of Graf. We lived in Gov’t leased housing.  Which in Germany means living off post …

It’s Like a Dream…are we really in the US?

stationed in germany

So today is our 4th full day here.  I have to admit for the first 2 days I really felt like I was in a dream.  Ben felt that way too.  On Saturday, we got cell phones.  This is what I ended up with…   The LG enV®3! I really like the Blackberry Curve but did not want to pay an extra $30/month for it.  But I really like this phone.  I had a very crappy phone the last 4 years in Germany so it has been a long time since I  had a phone I liked. We also got …

Moving Back To The US From Germany

Getting ready to head to the airport!  Of course, it would snow the day we left…   Our ride came at about 7:30 in the morning to take us to the airport.  It was snowing a little bit too.  We got to the airport and finally found where to check in.  They wanted to charge us for some of our bags.  They were all supposed to be free since we were military traveling on orders but I guess the first guy we talked to didn’t quite know how to read the orders to see all 4 of our names.  He …

Hello from the other side…

Well we made it 🙂  So glad that long day of flying is behind us.  It actually went OK overall but was just too long of a day.  Glad to be back in the US although it doesn’t seem real yet.  I was so tired yesterday but we got some rest so hopefully can get some things done today.  The boys woke up at 4am!  Yikes!!! I am sure it will take them a few days to get use to the time.

So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen Goodbye…

Well…it’s time.  This will be my last post from our home here in Germany.  Our internet is being turned off tomorrow.  I have a Kindle I can post from so I will try to blog again soon but not totally sure about when. Tomorrow I say goodbye to all my friends 🙁  That will be hard. Then it will be time to leave.  Pray for us on our long journey.  It is going to take forever to get there.  But then we will be in America again and I will be super happy 🙂 I think the boys pretty much …
