Space-A Adventure Part 2

We arrived in Ramstein on May 20th.  We were happy to see that they did have things for the kids to do…   We found out right away about cancelled flights.  Every single flight we were going to try that night was cancelled.  The next flight was not until about 9 or 10 am the next morning.  The terminal was also not open 24 hours like we thought.  After calling around a bit, we were able to get a 4-bedroom apartment at the hotel on base. The central registration told me all of the hotels at all the bases in …

My Experience Flying Space-A

my experience flying Space-A

This past summer Ben was deployed and I decided I wanted to spend the summer in sunny California!  I did not want to spend almost $3,000 to fly there from Germany.   My friend T also needed to get to the US so we talked about maybe trying out Space-A together.  We knew it was crazy but we were up for the adventure.  Space-A with children is very difficult but it can be done. We made the decision about 5 months before we were going to leave.  During that time, we went to www.pepperd.com and looked over everything.  We had …

On the way to Greece…

Here are some pictures from the cruise as we made our way to Greece from Italy.  We stopped in Athens.  I enjoyed some of what we saw there but it let me down overall.  Next time I go to Greece I want to see something else, like the islands.  It also was the only place we had rain so I think that had something to do with it too.

The Best Time for a Military Family to Have a Baby

When IS the best time for a military family to have a baby? I think this is something that a lot of military wives struggle with.  With all these deployments and not much time at home, how do you plan the perfect time to have a baby?  Is it better they miss the pregnancy but are there for the birth?  What if you plan it perfectly but then deployment orders change?  What if it takes longer than you think to get pregnant? Deciding to have AJ seemed easy.  We had been apart for 4.5 months while DW and I …

Auf Wiedersehen and Goodbye

We have less than 2 months in Germany! About 8 weeks left!  In some ways, it seems hard to believe.  That we will get on an airplane and our time here will be over. On the other hand, it is a long time coming and I am so ready to live in the US again. I will miss the bakeries, the church bells and the whole experience of living somewhere in Europe however I am really looking forward to a lot of things I have missed. Here is my list: Target Starbucks (They have these in Germany but not anywhere …

When in Rome…Take lots of Pictures!

Rome was the first place we went on the cruise (after leaving Barcelona.)  It was amazing!  I am posting my more artistic pictures here at Julie Loves Photography. The first stop was the Arch of Constantine, The Coliseum and the Roman Forum.  I am glad we decided to go in December because coming in the summer would have been crazy with all the crowds.  They gave us headsets too but I ended up turning mine off.  It was too much to try to listen to that, watch the boys and try to take pictures.  We paid 5 euro to …

Crusing in Europe

Crusing in Europe

We have never taken a cruise before so we have no experience with another cruise line.  We went on the Norwegian Jade and we really did enjoy it.  We spent way more than we first thought we would but it was all worth it in the end.  Plus if we were living in the US we never would have been able to do a cruise in Europe.  I am so glad we decided to do this! It was really hard with the kids even though they did have a wonderful kid program.  Now I feel like we can move back …

A Day in Barcelona

Our cruise left from the port in Barcelona.  We got there a day early flying in from Munich.   We got to spend some time walking around the city.  We were in such a beautiful part of the city.  We stayed at the Petit Palace Museum in the Las Ramblas area.  We had one of their family rooms which was perfect for us. View Full Album The boys just loved the bunk beds 🙂 We got up early and found a Starbucks…Yum!!! We miss that place so we are always on the look out for one if we go to a …

One Month Home

My husband has been home for a whole month now!  Crazy.  It went by SO fast.  We have been having great fun and he starts his block leave soon too.  It has been so nice to have someone else to help with the boys. Things I love about having my husband back from Iraq! * I don’t have to do every single chore in this house! * I can go out all by myself without the need to find a babysitter. * An adult to talk to and live in my house with me. * Someone to watch movies with. …

A Good Season After Deployment

I have been thinking a lot about last November compared with this one. It was such a sad month for us. My husband deployed Thanksgiving day. He deployed about 365 days after he returned from his 15 month deployment. I just remember thinking that a whole year was such a long time. How would I make it through another deployment? But now here we are. The deployment is over, finished, no more. We are getting ready for block leave and after that we will head to Ft. Campbell. So many fun things coming up! I am not sure how we …
