A&E’s Be the Boss Series Premiere and $100 Giftcard to the Melting Pot Giveaway

November 30, 2012 by Julie 82 Comments

The series premiere of Be the Boss will air, Sunday, December 2 11/10 C on A&E!

A&E presents the new original real life series Be the Boss, a competition-based series that pits two employees of a franchise-based company in the battle of a lifetime, competing for the chance to become the owner of their very own franchise.

From the Emmy-award winning creators of Undercover Boss, Be the Boss faces off two lower-level employees from the ranks, giving them the chance at what they think is a big promotion. In each episode, the CEO summons two deserving candidates to the company headquarters and subsequently puts them through a series of challenges to test their mettle at being in a senior management role. Both employees battle to prove they should earn the promotion, but they’re in for the shock of their lives when they discover that an even greater opportunity is ultimately at stake – the keys to their very own franchise! With franchise fees often running into the hundreds of thousands and sometimes even exceeding one million dollars, Be the Boss offers one of the largest prizes in all of television…and the promotion goes to the runner-up!

Iconic American companies featured in the first season include Complete Nutrition, Auntie Anne’s, Signal 88 Security, Molly Maid, Jazzercise. and The Melting Pot.

Be the Boss is produced for A&E Network by Studio Lambert. Executive Producers for Studio Lambert are Stephen Lambert, Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman, Brien Meagher and Phil Lott. Executive Producers for A&E are Elaine Frontain Bryant, Drew Tappon, Nicole Reed and Tom Moody.

You can view a clip of Be The Boss here 🙂

This show looks like it is going to be a great addition to the A&E lineup!  It is going to make people very happy when they find out they have won their own franchise!  There are a lot of different types of reality shows out there but my favorites are the ones that help others and just make you feel good when you watch them.

Here is a great blog post about it… http://www.lifetimemoms.com/lifetime-shows-blogs/whos-the-boss-i-am-sort-of

One of the brands featured on the show is the Melting Pot!

Founded in 1975, The Melting Pot continues to be a memorable dining experience. Guests enjoy a choice of fondue cooking styles and a variety of unique entrées combined with dipping sauces. Steel Magnolias on Lifetime Tv

September 17, 2012 by Julie 3 Comments

Steel Magnolias

Did you know that Lifetime Television is about to release a new version of Steel Magnolias? I was super excited to hear this as I am a fan of the original with Julia Roberts. I was given the opportunity to watch the movie and Ben and I did so last weekend. After we watched the new version we decided to watch the older version because it had been a while since I had seen it. Here is some information on the new one which will air Sunday October 7th, at 9pm/8pm Central on Lifetime.

ALL-STAR CAST FEATURES QUEEN LATIFAH,
PHYLICIA RASHAD, ADEPERO ODUYE, CONDOLA RASHAD
WITH JILL SCOTT AND ALFRE WOODARD
Film Executive Produced By Award Winning Duo CRAIG ZADAN and NEIL MERON
QUEEN LATIFAH, SHAKIM COMPERE and SHELBY STONE Also Executive Produce
Film Directed By KENNY LEON

Steel Magnolias chronicles the lives and friendship of six women in Louisiana.  Supporting each other through their triumphs ad tragedies, they congregate at Truvy’s beauty shop to ponder the mysteries of life and death, husbands and children – and hair and nails – all the important topics that truly unite and celebrate women.

Queen Latfiah will play “M’Lynn,” Phylicia Rashad as “Clairee,” Adepero Oduye as “Annelle,” Condola Rashad as “Shelby, ” Jill Scott as “Truvy” and Alfre Woodard as “Ouiser.”

My Thoughts: I thought it was great! It truly was an updated version of the original. Most of the dialog is the same and the new actors did a great job of becoming the original characters. They did update things for the times. The original was in the 1980s so instead of talking about a VCR they would mention a PlayStation. Although they all did a wonderful job I especially loved Queen Latifah’s role as M’Lynn. She brought all the right emotion to her role.

What I love about Steel Magnolias is that it will make you laugh and it will make you cry. This movie didn’t disappoint.

So go now and set your DVRs if you have one. You don’t want to miss this!

Army Wives Season 6 Episode 6 Review

April 4, 2012 by Julie 2 Comments

Did you get a chance to watch Army Wives Season 6 Episode 6 yet? You can watch online at Mylifetime.com. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t read any further. I am going to be talking about it and don’t want to spoil it for you!

Army Wives Season 6

First of all, what do you all think of Roxy as FRG leader? I think she will be good at it. Not sure how I feel about the dress code thing. I get wanting people to dress nice and not trashy but I really didn’t think Roxy dressed too trashy. We were talking about FRGs and dress codes on my Facebook page and a few of us thought that if FRGs had dress codes they might turn more people away. Since most FRGs are hurting for more people this wouldn’t be a good thing. On the other hand I don’t think I have seen too much inappropriate dress at FRG meetings in real life so maybe it isn’t even a huge problem to begin with?

David and his HIV. What an emotional part of the episode. I felt for both sides. In the end though, after looking at the facts they presented it seems that David is safe to be around. I like how Roland brought up the safety of his own daughter too.

I really liked the scene between Roxy and the new girl. They were able to connect a little bit. I think there are probably a lot of Army Wives or Military Wives who are newly married, now in a new state, far from what is normal to them. It can be really difficult to get use to everything. Hopefully she found a friend in Roxy.

What did you think of the episode? I miss Pamela. I miss her personality. It just added something extra to the show.

The Client List with Jennifer Love Hewitt

April 2, 2012 by Julie 6 Comments

I am a big fan of Jennifer Love Hewitt. I use to watch Kids Incorporated way back when and she was on that show. I loved Ghost Whisperer too so when I saw she was in a new show I knew I wanted to at least check it out. Lifetime sent me a preview of the first and second episodes of her new show, the Client List.

Award nominee Jennifer Love Hewitt, officially opens for business on Sunday, April 8, at 10:00pm ET/PT. Golden Globe winner Cybill Shepherd (Cybill), Emmy
®Award-winning actress Loretta Devine (Grey’s Anatomy) and Colin Egglesfield (Something Borrowed) also star. Based on the network’s hit 2010 original movie, Lifetime has ordered 10 episodes of The Client List. The Client List is about Texas housewife “Riley Parks” (Hewitt), who, after being deserted by her husband, is left in serious financial straits and takes a job at a seemingly traditional day spa in a neighboring town. But when she realizes some of her co-workers also provide other services, Riley must make the difficult decision whether or not to embrace an opportunity for her to resolve her financial hardships. The series will follow Riley as she delicately balances a moral conflict between two starkly different lives — one as a single mother in a conservative town struggling to provide for her family and the other as a savvy and ambitious businesswoman working with a raucous, sexy and unpredictable group of women. As Riley becomes more involved, she struggles while working in secrecy knowing her family and friends would disapprove of her decision. Shepherd stars as “Linette,” Riley’s mother; Devine plays “Georgia,” the spa’s feisty and disorganized owner; and Egglesfield portrays Riley’s brother-in-law “Evan.”

The Client List is executive produced by Hewitt, Dannielle Thomas (The Client List), Howard Braunstein (The
Client List, The Informant!), Jordan Budde (GCB, 90210) and Efrem Seeger (Queer as Folk, The Fresh Prince
of Bel-Air), with Fedora Films and Jaffe/Braunstein producing, in association with Sony Pictures Television.
In its July 2010 world premiere, the Lifetime Original Movie The Client List, for which Hewitt received a
Golden Globe nomination in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for
Television category, averaged 3.9 million Total Viewers. The movie was produced by Fedora Films and JaffeBraunstein Entertainment.

My Thoughts: I was pleasantly surprised by this show. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew I liked Jennifer Love Hewitt but was unsure on what the show was about. I liked how they focus a lot on her family. Mostly her mom and her situation with her husband but they also show her as a mom who really cares about her kids. She tries to make the right decisions about things but it is really hard based on what she is dealing with. There was also a little bit of mystery surrounding the husband that might be something they talk about all season long. Cybill Shepherd did great as Riley’s mom too. I am looking forward to more episodes! I know the subject matter might turn some people away but I felt it was presented in a classy way.  And the show felt to me that its focus was going to be on Riley’s struggles and how she was trying to do the best for her family.

Army Wives Season 6, Episode 4 Recap

March 25, 2012 by Julie 1 Comment

Are you caught up on Army Wives? If not there are a few ways to catch up. If you just need to watch episodes from season 6 you can do that by going to Mylifetime.com. If you need to start for the beginning or catch up with another season you should be able to do that on Netflix.

I will be talking about Army Wives Season 6 Episode 4 the rest of this post so if you haven’t watched it yet, don’t read anymore. I wouldn’t want to ruin anything for you.

Army Wives

What did you all this of last weeks episode? I really thought that the German wife was one big stereotype. I have met so many wives of soldiers that were German and not one of them reminded me of her. A German friend of mine saw that episode and got really frustrated over it. It just feels like they could have introduced her character in a different way.

The concert seemed to go well although Claudia Joy seems to be having some issues with Jackie. But after talking with the lady in DC I could see why she would be uncomfortable around her. I know if I was CJ I would be feeling so much pressure and would feel really uncomfortable around Jackie all the time.

Army Wives

Roland is going to be helping teen boys which is great but he sure didn’t want to do that at first. I guess that is understandable being that he would have to add something else to his schedule. I didn’t like the comment that was made about how the Fathers were gone a lot so it was like they were growing up essentially without Fathers. Maybe I just understood it wrong but it just didn’t sit well with me. Yes Military dads are gone a lot but they are still there and it is not the same as not having a Father.

I am hoping that they will be adding a new wife to the mix soon. I would love to see a lower enlisted family join the mix. There are a lot of lower enlisted families in the Military and it would be great to see a family portraying that. When I first started watching the show I thought that would be Trevor and Roxy. Here was a family with two little boys just like us. But I feel like they have gotten away from that.

What did you all think?

Here is the Army Wives preview for Episode 5!

Army Wives Season 6 Episode 3 Recap

March 17, 2012 by Julie 2 Comments

Are you all caught up on Army Wives? If you are not there are a few ways to catch up. If you just need to watch episodes from season 6 you can do that by going to Mylifetime.com.  If you need to start for the beginning or catch up with another season you should be able to do that on Netflix.

I will be talking about Army Wives Season 6 Episode 3 the rest of this post so if you haven’t watched it yet, don’t read anymore 😉

Army Wives Season 6

First of all I am so very glad that Pamela told Roxy that she needed to be with her husband.  It was getting a little ridiculous with Roxy getting a bigger place so Pamela could stay with them.  I was wondering how long that was going to go on for.  That being said it was pretty sad to see Pamela leave.  I hate saying goodbye to people and have done it many times so I knew what that felt like.  I cried a few tears during those scenes.  Partly because I had been through it before and partly because Pamela was leaving the show.  I don’t know many details but the actress that plays her, Brigid Brannagh is going to be on a new show called Gilded Lilys.  So I am guessing that is why Pamela is leaving the show.  Either that or because Chase is no longer on the show it made sense to have her go to.

As for Roxy, I was irritated that she name dropped at the housing office.  She should know after being an Army Wife for 6 years now that you just don’t do that.  Shame on her!

As for the drama with the new lady, Jackie.  Part of me felt like Claudia Joy was just irritated over nothing but since it is a drama on TV we know there is going to be trouble with her.

Army Wives Season 6

As for the Roland and David story line, it was sweet to see David having fun but I guess there is going to be drama with the head of the center.

So what did you all think?

Here is the preview for tomorrow night!

Army Wives Season Six, Episode One & Two, My Thoughts

March 10, 2012 by Julie 5 Comments

Did you all get a chance to watch the first and second episodes of Army Wives Season Six yet? If you haven’t…please stop reading this post! I wanted to talk about the episode but I don’t want to ruin anything for you 🙂 If you would like to watch it you can do so online here!

Army Wives Season 6

Army Wives Season 6

I had my Army Wives party and got to watch episode one with some of my friends. Afterwords I had them write out what they thought. It was interesting that we all kinda thought the same things.

We really liked that David was now apart of the Burton family. It is so sweet to see them together and happy. We thought it was great that Michael decided to not take the Pentagon job so that Claudia Joy could work as a Lawyer. We also thought that it was nice to see Denise and Frank take Molly to Jeremy’s grave site for her birthday.

We thought that the scenes about waiting on orders and missing friends once you PCS was very true to life. Most of us had been through that personally. It is hard to wait on the Army and hard to say goodbye to friends once you or they have to PCS.

We all pretty much felt like Roxy’s accident scene was really unbelievable. We were all pretty much shouting, “Don’t leave him in the car!” when she left Finn in the car. But I guess you never really know how you are going to react in situations like that. We found it frustrating Roxy wasn’t taking the offers for the bar more seriously. I would think that if you were an Army wife, knew your husband was PCSing and knew you had to get rid of the bar that if someone was offering to buy it you would take them up on it. But as the episode showed she was having a hard time accepting the PCS.

The cliffhanger at the end of episode one got us! We couldn’t wait to see the next episode!

Army Wives Season 6

I watched episode two with one of my friends last Sunday. We loved the scenes with Jeremy. It was also sad knowing that what she was dreaming wasn’t what happened. It was sweet to see Jeremy act like a big brother and see the family grow up. At one point I wondered if that would continue all season. Just having Denise in this other life. But at the end it made sense that she was drawn to staying with her son but also drawn to be with her daughter and husband. I thought they showed this well and in the end I was very happy to see her wake up and be alright.

We knew once they started talking about how badly Ft. Hope was hit that they were going to keep Ft. Marshall open instead. It was the logical thing to do. Although in real life the Army doesn’t always do the most logical thing. We also felt bad for Claudia Joy. She thought she was going to have her chance to forward her career but in the end she has to stand by her husband and wait a little longer.  The Pamela story line was a little confusing to me.   Her house might be unlivable but it didn’t seem like she was thinking about heading to California earlier than planned.  Instead she ends up at a shelter.  I guess if I was in her shoes my first thought would be that we would need to leave and head to California earlier than I thought we would.

I think this is probably going to be a very interesting season! Now that Ft. Marshall isn’t going to close I wonder what other situations they are going to have to deal with? I wonder what Army Wife will be gone forever? And do they mean gone forever gone or emotionally gone or what?

What did you think of the first two episodes?

Since it is Saturday we only have one more day to wait to find out what happens next!  It airs Sunday night at 9/8c!

Army Wives watching Army Wives

March 3, 2012 by Julie 9 Comments

Lifetime sent me an advanced copy of the first episode of season 6 of Army Wives.  Well I knew I couldn’t just sit and watch it by myself and I needed some girl time.  I invited some friends over, we had a potluck and watched the first episode of Army Wives season 6.  It was so much fun!  I knew it would be a fun night and we all had a blast!  A bunch of Army wives watching Army Wives. Afterwards I asked everyone to share what they thought of the first episode.  I am not going to tell you what everyone said but I think it is safe to assume that you will enjoy the episode as much as we did 🙂  I will write another post after it airs to talk about what we all thought 🙂

It was obvious to us that us Army girls go through a lot of the same types of issues and it was so helpful to be able to talk about some of them together.  I think getting through the harder parts of the Army life is much easier when you know you are not doing it alone.

Don’t forget to tune in on Sunday March 4th  at 9/8c on Lifetime 🙂

And if you haven’t already, make sure you enter my Kindle Fire giveaway 🙂
