My New Keurig 2.0

September 18, 2014 by Julie 3 Comments

Keurig 2.0

How many of you like coffee? I am pretty much addicted to it. We got a Keurig for Christmas a few years ago. We loved that thing. That is why I was excited to learned I would be getting a free one from Influenster to review. This one is called the Keurig 2.0 and it is pretty sweet!

We have been using it for a couple of weeks now and we are loving it!

Keurig 2.0 cups

It is great because you can use small K-cups or K-Carafe ones for a carafe full. This is nice because Ben and I can share it unless he decides he needs a lot of coffee and drinks it all before I get to it 😉

Another great thing about this one is that it reads each K-cup to give you the perfect cup!

https://www.keurig.com

The only issue we have had was when I went to buy some K-cups at the store. We went through the ones they came with pretty fast. Anyway, they were Keurig brand but the machine would not take them. A number came up on the screen and I called it. Found out that they will only take the Keurig K-cups with the whiting that is in white, mine was yellow. The lady on the phone told me this could be a bit of an issue because the 2.0 just came out and it will take a bit for retailers to catch up with the new cups. They did send me a coupon for a free box which was nice. It shipped free from https://www.keurig.com.

Keurig 2.0

How do you like your coffee?

* I received the Keurig 2.0 for free from Influenster in hopes that I would write a review on it.

K5 Website Review

August 6, 2014 by Julie 1 Comment

Butterfly girl FT

Summer is over! At least for us here in Clarksville, TN. Back to the regular routine of the school year. I was glad that I was able to review the K5 reading program over the summer. My nine year old was the one who used it.

To start I had him take the Reading assessment to see what level he was at. This was helpful so I could see where he was. He has struggled with reading so it was helpful to know where he was at the start of the program.

Each time he went into the lesson I had him do three rounds. This took him about 15 minutes. What is so great about it too is that as a parent I can go in and see how he is doing. I can look up the assessment results as well as how he is doing overall on the lessons. He also has his own login which is nice. There is nothing to download. You just go to the site and login.

Here is a little bit more information about the program…

The K5 program includes:

  • an initial online assessment of each child’s math and reading skills,
  •  award-winning, curricula based reading and math content,
  • over 3,000 online multimedia activities, personalized for each child based on his or her assessment,
  • a highly structured environment which allows the student to proceed through the lessons in a logical fashion at his own pace,
  • ease of use which allows even 4 or 5 year olds to work independently,
  •  attention to child safety with no external links, advertisements, chat or similar,
  • comprehensive reporting to parents,
  • 24/7 availability and no downloads

Overview

K5 Learning (www.k5learning.com) is an online reading and math program for kids from
kindergarten through grade 5. Our intent is to help kids build reading, math and study skills
through independent study. K5 is designed for home use and can be used for after-school,
weekend and summertime supplemental study or in conjunction with a homeschooling program.
How it Works
Kids complete an online assessment of 8 key reading and math skills, and then work
independently at their own pace through over 3,000 online lessons and activities. The lessons
are animated, interactive and simple enough that a 4-5 year old can use them independently. We
automatically choose lessons for students (based on their assessment and past lessons), track
student progress and provide reports for parents.
Benefits for Kids
K5 helps kids learn essential reading and math skills, develop good study habits, and fulfill their
academic potential.
Benefits for Parents
K5 makes life easier for parents by allowing for effective, independent study by kids. Simplified
interfaces, automatic lesson selection, student tracking and reporting all contribute to minimize
the amount of daily supervision required.
Who we are

K5 Learning was founded by parents who wanted better learning tools available to their kids for

home use. In 2010, we licensed the very best reading and math software, used by thousands of

students in hundreds of schools, from leading U.S. education companies. K5 Learning is
formed from the combination of this award winning software

Program Costs
K5 is available on a subscription basis for $25/month or $199/year with substantial discounts for
siblings. Each subscription includes a free math and reading assessment and unlimited use of
each of K5’s four programs, K5 Reading, K5 Math, K5 Spelling and K5 Math Facts. A 14 day
free trial is available.

You can sign up for your free 14 day trial here!

* I was given a free six week trial of this product for review. Opinions are my own.

Who likes to go to sports games, concerts or shows? I absoultely love baseball. I grew up going to Dodger games. However, I am in TN now and the closest major league baseball team is in St. Louis. Since I am going to be up there for the Scentsy Reunion in July, I was debating on going to see the Cardnials play. The St. Louis Cardnials was my Grandpa’s favorite team.

While I was trying to decide about the game I was contacted by ScoreBig to do a review of the ticket ordering process. Sweet! First of all I was able to look up the game I wanted. I was able to search by event (MLB) and then date. I was even able to put in that I wanted to see all the games being played in St. Louis.

Once I clicked on the game that I wanted, I was able to choose the section I wanted to sit in. Each section is priced differently. Now the price that is shown is crossed out and I needed to put in my offer. I needed four tickets so I put that in too. I then was directed to another screen where I put in my personal information. Then I was able to submit my offer. The great thing was that they gave me a price below the offer I made. My tickets will be e-tickets that I will print out and take to the game.

Here is some more information on ScoreBig 🙂

I love all the support that is out there for us Military spouses. I got the privilege of reviewing an E-book by fellow Blogger and Military Spouse, Kathryn Sneed. Kathryn has been blogging at Singing Through the Rain since 2011. Her blog is a supportive blog for Military spouses and one of my favorites!

Journey Through Deployment: Stepping Forward with Confidence During Military Separations is filled with:

  • Tips for preparing yourself and your family for deployment.
  • Hope and encouragement to get you through deployment.
  • A section for civilians to learn what military life is like.
  • Tips for preparing yourself and your family for reintegration.
  • Stories, lessons, and journeys of other military spouses just like you!

I read this book as we finished up our fourth deployment and I can tell you it is filled with a lot of great advice for anyone going through a deployment. When your spouse first leaves it can be overwhelming. You might not know how you should feel or if what you are feeling is okay. Having a book like this will help you understand that you are not alone. It can also teach you what to expect as the deployment goes on. I would have loved to have read something like this during our first deployment.

I also enjoyed the stories the author added and advice from other spouses. It really helps to hear from different people as different people do have different deployment experiences.

You can purchase Journey Through Deployment at Amazon or as a PDF file.

Hickory Farms Gift Box

It’s that time of year again! You know, the time of year when you probably have some time off just to relax as a family. Just some time to chill at home. Our family is really looking forward to doing some of that around Christmas this year. We love to have snack foods to munch on and Hickory Farms is one of our favorites.

This year I will be doing a review on their Beef Hearty Hickory Gift Box. In this box you will receive:

2 -Our Signature Beef Summer Sausage 5 oz.
-Smoked Cheddar Blend 4 oz.
-Farmhouse Cheddar 4 oz.
-Golden Toasted Crackers .9 oz.
-2 -Sweet Hot Mustard 1.25 oz.

Everything you need to have some yummy snack food around to munch on during Christmas and the holiday season. This is also something you might want to bring to a Christmas or a New Year’s Eve party.

I am saving most of my box for after my husband returns from his deployment. I know he loves to snack on this kind of stuff. My oldest son got excited about the cheese when I opened up the box. I love the taste of the beef summer sausage!

The great thing about Hickory Farms is that they will ship select products for free to APO/FPO military addresses. I always love it when companies do this for our Military 🙂

Homecoming Banner Signs.com Review and Giveaway

October 10, 2013 by Julie 49 Comments

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned below for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

Well…it is almost that time to start seriously thinking of homecoming.

One thing most people do to prepare for it is to get some type of banner. I have usually had a mix of a banner that I had ordered and banners we made by hand.

The banner I had used in the past only has two of our three boy’s names on it so I knew I wanted to order a new one this time.

When I was contacted by Signs.com to review on of their banners I figured it was perfect timing.

photo (3)

I decided to go with an camo looking banner although they have many other types to choose from. You can go with a Military theme, animals, holidays, real estate and more.

If you have a banner need, they should be able to fill it.

The ordering process was pretty easy. I just needed to decide on my background, what I wanted on the banner and the size.

How would you like to win your own banner? Enter the Rafflecopter bellow to win your own 4ft by 2ft banner!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Also you can get 15% off your order for entering the code “SWCL15” in your order.

If you don’t need a banner right now, Signs.com also has yard signs, vehicle decals, magnets and more. If you have a business you might want to check out the vehicle decals to put on your car. You can find a premade one or customize it from scratch.
